Phoebe Waller-Bridge rose to fame as the creator and star of Fleabag, a darkly comedic television series about a deeply flawed — and deeply relatable — woman navigating love and loss. Born in 1985 in London, England, Waller-Bridge began studying acting at age 17 at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). After graduating and becoming discouraged by the lack of substantial roles available for women, Waller-Bridge wrote and performed the breakout one-woman show that evolved into her hit series. With its fearless redefinition of femininity, Fleabag, adapted for TV in 2016, became a cultural phenomenon, earning Waller-Bridge critical acclaim and multiple awards, including three Primetime Emmys.

The breakout Brit brought a similarly inspired voice as the head writer and showrunner on the first season of the hit series Killing Eve (2018). Waller-Bridge’s portrayals of unapologetically defiant women, complex friendships, and the meeting place of pain and humor are a breath of fresh air. Her career has since expanded to the big screen, with a co-writing credit on the 2021 James Bond film No Time to Die, and a starring role alongside Harrison Ford in 2023’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
